The Very Best of Junk and Gems is an audio guide that ushers the listener on a drift through a bunch of cassette tapes found in a black plastic storage box and a shoe box. This musical roadtrip goes from the Belvedere Market in Tallaght to the Blue Highway; following ancient waterways from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to Lake Onega. Along the route, detours into auto fictional memory explorations around growing up, angel dust, golden hits songs and best selling album lists occur.
That all the cassette tapes have a connection to Tallaght is 1. slightly accidental but 2. maybe not at the same time. The audio guide is read for the listener by Samantha, an artificial and emotionless text to speech voice which might have a sleep inducement effect due to her life less reading.
